Lorna's ABC Quilt Tutorial

POST UPDATE:

As an update to this post, I have created a full PDF for all the letter patterns, the instructions as well as a tutorial for the apples and apple cores.  I also finished another quilt in 30's fabrics. I love how it turned out!

Just click on the word PDF above for the entire link.

Lorna's ABC Quilt Tutorial

I found this ABC quilt pattern on pinterest.  It really peaked my interest since I have twin little grandsons and decided they must have this for their own. I started this when they were not even crawling yet and now will finally give it to them for their second birthday. It is a utility
quilt and can be used for picnics, beach time, floor time, nap time....the options are endless when you are two!

Perhaps a fort will be in this quilts future.

My daughter loves skulls, so I decided to use red, white and black in every other block and then use alternate colors, including personal and fun fabrics that are associated to football teams, random fun things, etc.

 .

Watching this come together was pretty fun!

Now to figure out the backing and binding!

Perfect for the back. If you want fabric that is going to go on grass, or sand, or tumbling around on the floor, this is perfect!

And the binding. How amazing is this fabric? I am loving this more and more!

Time to load this bad boy onto the quilting machine.

Now to find the perfect pattern.

Apples and half eaten apples as well as worms! I love it!

How amazing is this? Apples on apples!

I always love the back!

Now to add the binding and sew it on by hand...

And it's done!! Done!! I cannot wait to give this to my kids in three days.

Happy 2nd Birthday my little boys!

UPDATE PICS!

They love this quilt! They were finding the matching letters to go with their little wooden letters. :)
